Slides is a web program by Google that lets you effortlessly create and edit presentations, catalogs, magazines, guides, etc. This program works similarly to Microsoft PowerPoint. This tool however is more powerful and simpler to use, not to mention, FREE. Slides comes loaded with many features like real time collaboration, offline editing, etc.
You can publish and embed your presentations into your website.
What you can use it for:
- Monthly/quarterly/yearly budget forecasts or reviews
- Create tutorials to use your product
- Make a portfolio for your company
- Create a photo slide showcasing your company at work
- Employee/volunteer training
Insert images into your slides by uploading a picture, entering image URL, importing images from Google Drive or even search from the built in Google search engine. You can also embed a certain image to appear on all your slides for example you want your company logo or copyright info to be in all the pages.
Charts from Google Sheets can be inserted into your slides. The best part is, the chart you are adding can be one that’s being updated minute by minute. You can also choose to update the info shown on your chart before presenting it, or leave it the way it is.
You can embed videos into your slides so you won’t ever have to leave the program and look through your files to show your audience video content.
When you’re in a hurry and need to make a quick presentation, you can pick from a selection of build in themes. Doing so will save you a lot of time and make your presentation look uniform and professional.
You can add various animations to your images, charts, text, etc. on your slides. For example you can have your content fade in or roll out.
Edit a presentation with friends or coworkers, and share it with others effortlessly. Slides allows all collaborators to work on the same Slide simultaneously while the changes made are updated in real time.
Slides can be accessed on any modern browser on your phone, tablet, and laptop, PC or Mac. If you work on Slides a lot you can also download the Slides mobile app across all Android and iOS devices. Slides app gives you the flexibility of downloading and working on your presentation offline. Changes you make offline are uploaded once your device connects to the internet.
This unique feature gives opportunity for you to take questions from your audience right from within Slides. When you enable this feature, your slide will display a URL your audience can visit. Anyone who visits the link can ask you a question by typing it into the page. All questions asked by your audience is collected and can be accessed by you inside Slides. If you choose to answer a question from this collection, you have the option to project it into your slides so that everyone can see the question you are addressing.
All Slides you create are automatically saved on your Drive so you can access it from the Drive web or mobile app along with all your other files.
If you were using other programs to create presentations, worry not. As Slides can import .pptx and .pps files and convert them to Google presentations. You can also download your presentations as a .pdf, .ppt, .svg, .jpg, or .txt file.
