Google Sheets is a free web and mobile application that can be used to create, edit and share spreadsheets. This application works similarly to Microsoft Excel. Sheets can be accessed from any device with internet either through an app or by a modern browser.

Rich inputs:

You can make every document lively and unique by adding charts and graphs with colours. In addition, you can utilise built in formulas which saves a lot of time.

Templates:

Google Sheets comes with various document templates for different scenarios. With templates you can create professional looking documents with minimal effort. There are templates for creating ToDo lists, budgets, exercise logs, time tables, rosters, etc.

Offline access:

Editing or viewing spreadsheets offline is possible by downloading the Sheets app on your phone, tablet or computer.

Collaboration:

Sheets created by you can be shared with anyone and all those with access can work on the spreadsheet simultaneously. Any changes made by collaborators can be seen in real time.

Feedback:

Google Sheets has a handy chat feature that allows you to text chat collaborators from within the application. You can also comment on certain parts of the spreadsheet as feedback. Tagging someone to a comment sends them a notification about it.

Auto save:

Google Sheets proactively saves your document as and when any change is made! You will never again lose your data to battery deaths and other unfortunate scenarios.

Formats:

You can access your older Microsoft Excel files as Docs can convert the file format. This makes life easier for those changing their primary spreadsheet editing app.

Insights:

Sheets has an insights feature where you can instantly get an overview of your data. For example, Sheets will show you a graph of chart of the data you have collected.

Add-ons:

This is a slightly more advanced feature where you can download Add-ons that can help create spreadsheets easier. Examples of some Add-ons are: importing social media/AdWords/payment analytics, importing RSS feed data, etc.
